Course Information

  1. For 2020-2021 incoming Freshman students, the graduation requirement for General Education courses is twenty-eight credits, which includes ten required credits and eighteen elective credits.
    1. Core Course (Required): 10 credits, which includes “Reading and Writing in Chinese” (4), “English” (4) and “Physical Education” (2).
    2. Elective Course: At least 18 credits, which should be selected in three different domains.
      1. The Domain of Literature, History, Philosophy and Art (文史哲藝術領域)
      2. The Domain of Societal Movement in Sequence of Ideas (社會脈動領域)
      3. The Domain of Life Science (生命科學領域)
      4. The Domain of Scientific and Technological Exploration (科技探索領域)
      5. The Domain of International Field of Vision (國際視野領域)
      6. The Undeclared Domain (不分領域)

  2. Course registration date:
    1. The first stage: Jan 4, 2021, 09:00 ~ Jan 10, 2021, 17:00
    2. The second stage: Jan 19, 2021, 09:00 ~ Jan 25, 2021, 17:00
    3. The results of initial course selection will be available online for students from Jan 28, 2021.
    4. The third stage: Feb 22, 2021, 12:00 ~ Mar 8, 2021, 17:00
  3. Each elective course is available for a limited number of students, depends on capacity of the classroom. During the first or second stage of course selection, once the number of students who signing up for the course exceeds the capacity of the classroom, the system of course selection will draw randomly to pick up student from the list of students signing up for the course to fit the capacity of the classroom, the rule of random drawing is described as below:
    1. For the course held on Tuesday and Thursday, the course selection system will pick up the Freshman, Senior, Sophomore and Junior students in order.
    2. For the course held on Friday, the course selection system will pick up the Sophomore, Freshman, Senior and Junior students in order.
    3. The student picked up by the system in previous stage of course selection will be kept through the next stage.
  4. During the whole period of course selection, student will not be allowed to drop the course if the number of students enrolled in the course is equal or less than 25.
  5. Course might be canceled if the number of students enrolled less than 25.
  6. Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior students are expected to enroll 16 to 30 academic credit hours of approved courses per semester; however, the senior students are expected to enroll not less than 9 academic credit hours per semester.
